@Jason I think she is speaking from a purely economic mindset: the carbon sequestered is carbon sequestered. The pricing differences come from the positive externalities associated with the projects. So separate the project qualities from the carbon. Price the carbon. Then deal with the positive externalities separately. I think this also comes from her perspective focused on ETS versus VCMs where the majority of emissions reductions will be through trading of permits. That is just my inference though. I think this also demonstrates the necessity for the VCM: there is a lot of value that is created outside of just carbon removal, especially from natural climate solutions projects. I also still wonder how permanence plays into how credits should be priced. There is a company called BeZero Carbon that is basically a ratings agency for carbon credits which is good. I would also like to see something like a LEED certification of sorts for demand side. We can discuss this in person back in Cambridge though!

Just got off a call with Nadeem from Delta Blue Carbon…it’s looking like mid to end of July would be good for Pakistan, so perhaps post Kenya. This would also be helpful because Nadeem is very interested in seeing how DBC can use tech to improve their MRV process.

I found out an interesting thing yesterday at the HCIP cohort meeting: my friend from Indonesia said that Indonesia plans on blocking the sale of carbon credits internationally…Would drive prices down from $10/ton to $2/ton, making NBS removal unattractive economically :( She wants to have me meet with some policymakers while in Jakarta
